Hi, I'm new to the forum and hoping some of you may be able to throw a crumb of comfort my way. So, I ordered my Mustang in September and had my Roush axle back for Christmas which got me thinking I might be due a build date and thought it time to chase the dealer. Gave them a call on 4th Jan to be told no build date yet but order locked in. Great, just check the spec is correct to be told climate seats are not on the spec - that's not what I ordered! I'm then given the choice of 1/ go ahead with the order, or 2/ cancel and reorder. I've taken option 2 as I want the car to be correct and in the hope order times have come down.
I think (hope) they have but what's the experience of others?

Order time wont be down much, we've heard stories here of people with car's that've come 'misspeced' as the dealers send the specs to ford, and as humans, generally make mistakes.

Anyway, reordering is fine, because that's got you pretty much nailed on for a MY18 car, may not sound like much, however this is the mid model (for the s550/gen6 mustang) refresh, and is meant to come with 10speed auto, mag ride and other features yet confirmed. (will be confirmed by end of jan). So that's a positive!

Did you not get the spec emailed when you put the deposit down?

Order times seem roughly the same; I ordered last February and took delivery mid-November; I could have had it a fortnight earlier had the bumper not been drilled, and then subsequently replaced (simple things seem to go wrong in this process). 8 months for me - 7/9 seems about right still. I believe this is due to the car being quota'd so they're trying to sell 4000 a year and keeping to it.

I had to hold off ordering until beginning of April 2016 to be guaranteed my MY17 car according to the dealer (I had been waiting for Sync 3). For sure MY17 cars did get delivered from orders earlier than mine, but according to the garage, the official order book for the following year didn't open until April. I guess it depends on how sure you are that the MY18 will roll out on time. Who knows...

Welcome! What was the spec out of interest?

Thanks. Race red, no custom pack, all other options.
I was working on 9 month wait but given I ordered on 21 Sept and order was locked on 4 Jan this was looking to me like it would have been about 7 months instead.

Ask the dealer if they have anything else in the system that they could swap you into. Check that they will honour the price when you orders in case of a case price change. I ordered mine in February and got a MY17 car

Best of luck

Hiya,
Thanks Steve, didn't see this post.
What spec have you ordered? I see Race Red with all the options, no custom pack. Fastback, convertible, manual, auto?
I do have 2 convertibles coming in my soon with black wheels and all the options but no fastbacks

James Rowe is a Ford salesman. The type that destroys Ford's reputation. Because he knows the cars and offers a great service! Mercedes could learn a lot from him.

One of his cars is probably the one that was going to be mine :( Very nice spec, if you want a manual convertible.

I discovered my car had been ordered with no custom pack 5 months into the order and 3 days before it was built. I escalated the issue right to the top, Andy Barratt and also to Stacey. They converted a dealership demonstrator order to my spec and the reorder arrived two months after the incorrect car. I still got my car in 9 and a half months and the original order took only 7 as I saw it sitting in the dealership. I benefitted by getting the MY17 instead of MY16 plus additional compensation as a goodwill gesture. Be polite but very firm with them and lay it on thick about the impact it has had on you.
