You need a cellular module I think which requires a subscription fee.

I'd like that too. You have to be within like 100ft of the car for the remote start to work. Walking that 100ft only takes a minute so the car doesn't even warm up. I park a lot further than that away at work and a lot of the time, I can't even remote start my car from inside a restaurant. I saw something saying any aftermarket system wouldn't work with my enhanced security package though.

Yes, its called Ford Remote Access. You need two modules, the RMU unit DL3Z-19A390-B and the Security module FT4Z-19A361-A. Install is a breeze but you need to have it programmed by a dealership or me. $49 yearly fee paid to a company called spindance. You will get security alerts if someone triggers your alarm and you can lock, unlock, remote start your Mustang from anywhere as long as you have service. I use mine all the time.

It sounds like something I'd love to have in the cold ass winter out here. But I don't think it's wise to put one in a manual since most of us leave it in 1st or reverse when we park. I don't even think Ford would put one in a car that wasn't auto for that very reason, would they?

Yes, works only on cars with automatic transmissions. I tried to install on a manual to see if it would work and nothing. :headbonk:

It would work on a manual trans vehicle; you have to bypass the clutch neutral safety switch. Caution though, by doing so creates a safety risk, because of course if the owner leaves the trans in gear and tries to do a remote start, there's the possibility of starting the car and having it lurch forward. On a normal startup with a manual transmission, when the clutch pedal is depressed, it's also tripping the neutral safety switch to relay to the trans "safe to start".

Find the switch (or on newer cars maybe a sensor), unplug it or disengage and it may work...
