During the week as I don't use the car, and she is left outdoors I start her up on the RS for 15mins on the Tuesday and the Thursday
Can this do harm to the battery or the engine?
The battery is at 14 volts
Thanks

No reason to idle the car when you are not using it.
It does more harm than good.

So 3 say no harm, not fussed about the dosh
So why do you think Jason it will do the car harm?
Used to in the winter when the car was not being used much, start her up every few days, never done any harm and that was over 4 years
So why do you think I will do harm to the engine or battery with this car?

thanks

starting and idling never really brings the car up to temperature, you need to drive it, that way it sees a full heat cycle, so as said, it can be more harm than good

Idling the car only maintains the battery at its current state. So if the battery lost some of its power it will only stay at that power level. Take the car for a drive. Worked at Advance Auto for 12 years.

Honestly if your driving it on the weekend then you really dont need to do anything. No point in starting it if you arent going to drive it, you will only charge the battery if your driving with load on the alternator.

15 minutes idling is not gonna refill the battery after starting the motor.
When idling, the alternator does not put out enough current to charge the battery up.

Waste of time. As long as you're driving the car once a week no need to bother with anything else. Now if you start leaving the car parked for a few weeks at a time you may need to be concerned about battery life more.

Cold engine, very rich mixture, gasoline washing the piston rings and cylinder walls dry, gasoline and moisture gets in the oil causing dilution, moisture inside the exhaust pipe.

I'm just curious, what do these large dealerships do with all these cars they have on the lot during the winter? Everybody worries about there cars parked in there garage or driveway but these dealers have a ton of cars on the lot that don't move in the winter. What do they do?

Dealership lot storage...

I was going to store my 'vert for several months last winter and asked my dealer what they did about long term lot storage. He said they prefer to just let the vehicles sit. He didn't like the idea of starting them up and letting them sit. Explanation was as above...engine not hot enough to vaporize any moisture out of the oil, and water would condense in the pistons.
