Reliability: s/c vs turbo

Hello everyone! Super excited to say my car was delivered tonight! (even got to drive it off the truck!) my question for you all is as the title suggests: which system has better reliability? I ask this because I see many high mile supercharged vehicles but rarely see a high mile turbo vehicle, unless it's a diesel. Are turbos not the best for long term? Thanks!

I don't think one is more reliable than the other in the aftermarket if installed and maintained properly with a good tune. S/Cs are easier to get right because they're more or less a big bolt on and thus less room for installer error. Turbos aren't often as "packaged" for a car that didn't have one from the factory and require some prowess to get right as they're on the hot side and aren't as popular with American V8's, so less tuning prowess at a higher cost, too. I'd get a S/C personally. Cheaper, too.

Congrats taking delivery on such a beloved mechine. Turbo is just more complex to instal and tune for the most part and brightest factor maybe $$$. There are some nice turbo kits coming out as of recent that look really well built. I'm addicted to the twin screw

Thanks for the input. I plan on getting a centri on the future some time but wanted to way pros and cons.

We have some great packages with the paxton, whipple and procharger set ups

If you want turbo, our hellion set ups are the way to go

Been in both worlds. Super Charger all day long. Way more reliable than turbo. Turbos are fun no doubt but always something going wrong.

WHAT? I too have been in both worlds and didn't have any problems with a turbo kit that I used. What problems did you have?

It is not just me. I have read many posts throughout the years. I am not going to debate this. This is my opinion from being in both worlds and hearing friends and other members problems. Give me a S/C anyway.

Yup seen your stock and that's probably the way I'll be going. Which of the 3 would you suggest. I was thinking procharger but the price of the Paxton and vortech is appealing.

Not a mustang, but I have 170,000 miles on my turbo setup. Although it's a forged engine, but runs like a new car.
The key is to have top notch components, turbo, fuel system and tune.

Anyways to the OP. I have had from a Procharger P600B from when they first came out back in '91 to a Vortech A,S,T and R trims to a Novi2000 to a PT-74, PT76 and Majestic 88mm turbo kits and NEVER had a problem with any of my turbo kits. Most recent had been my '14 GT with a whipple 2.3 kit that was trouble free as well. My turbo kit with the 88mm made 1177 RWHP and 1097 RWTQ on a old school 302 and I drove it for 2 years back/forth to work at 400 miles per week. Obviously you are reading wayyyyyyy to deep into my comment. Turbos are great when they are not problematic. :lol: There is that better?
