Ok, I'm needing some help. pulled the battery cover, drilled the hole, I mounted the brackets, then mounted the struts.......working like a charm, I forgot to put the battery cover back on. Tried to pull the strut off, and it won't come off to mount the battery cover.. HELP.

Screwdriver in the slot on back of strut. Pry up the metal band slightly. Strut end pops off the ball.

Instructions show (like stated above)

No problem Tcnarber,
There are two way to solve the problem:
1) As others have already stated, you can Slide a small flat blade screw driver under the metal c-clip on the back of the end-fitting. Slowly twist and pull the gas spring from the ball-stud while prying c-clip (DO NOT REMOVE C-CLIP). Gas spring will pop off of ball-stud. Press c-clip back into position and the gas spring is ready to reinstall.

2) Others customers of ours have suggested that if you think you are going to be removing the battery cover more often you can cut between the hole you made for the bracket and the edge of the battery cover (see pic below). This way you will not have to remove the gas spring to remove the battery cover.

Please let me know if you need any other assistance.
