I'm assuming the red LEDs located on the top of the door panels are for the alarm system. I was checking out and testing the alarm system in the garage today, and noticed when I lock and arm the alarm, the red LEDs light up solid. I came back 10 min later and they were off.

I would think they should stay on solid, or at least blink to indicate the alarm system is activated. Anyone else notice this, or maybe a couple members here could arm the alarm and do the same test and let me know if the LEDs go out or not.

I'm assuming my alarm is working properly, so need verification on the LEDs. Nothing at all is mentioned in the owner's manual about the LEDs.

I have the enhanced security system, and I had someone lock the car with the remote while I sat in the car and I could hear the column lock and center console door lock active. Also tested out the interior sensor by keeping a window down and sticking my arm through the open window which made the alarm go off. The sensor didn't pick me up moving around inside, just when my arm passed the plane defined by the open window.

The red lights show that the door is locked. It replaces the bump in the door that older cars have.

By "bump in the door" I assume you mean "door lock."

I'm not a fan of the system; it makes it virtually impossible to lock / unlock the passenger door when the car battery is dead.

There is a slot above the door latch assembly that you stick the physical key from the remote in and turn it to lock the door manually if there is no power. Slot is on both doors. As far as unlocking passenger side if there is no power, get in the driver's seat and reach across to pull the interior handle.

It's all covered in the owner's manual in the Locks section...

Oh - and there's also a slot in the back seat that you stick the key in to open the trunk if there's no power...

I've read the manual numerous times. I know about the emergency key and the hidden door lock under the handle. And if you want to lock and unlock both doors with the battery dead, you have to basically get down on your knees and crawl under the door handle four times to stick that little fake key in. It's idiotic that they don't give you a way to lock the doors from the inside when the battery is dead.

I still haven't figured out how my alarm system works. I tested it once by opening the passenger door with the windows down by using the inside door handle.

It worked.

Stick your hand through the open window with it locked.

It will also work. :)

Only if you have the enhanced security system.
I have that but the top was down when I unlocked the door from the inside. The alarm didn't go off until I opened the door. Next time I have the top up I'll try the reaching in thing with windows down

Also make sure that the interior sensors are turned on.

Yep, there are only two alarm configuration options, either.

1) All sensors
2) Perimeter sensors (which turns off the interior sensors).

If set to 2), the motion sensor(s) inside are disabled.
