Recommended tests prior to tuning the engine?

I’d say step on gas and if it moves forward start modding lol. Just stay with naturally aspirated until the warranty is gone if that is a concern, less chance of problems and harder (not impossible) to argue that the tune caused a problem if it needs warranty work.
