A 285/40/19 is 1% taller compared to a 285/35/19 which is 3.3% shorter

Either or works no issues and are ok because their in the proper range of change.

But if you look at number the 40 profile helps keep the slightest of change.

the 275/40/19 Michelin pilot sport 4s runs bigger than the Pirelli 275/40/19. check my I.G. to see how that tire looks in comparison , I say it fills out the wheel well a bit nicer. It has less road noise, handles better sticks better , and last much longer than the stock Pirelli (see Michelins page for exact mileage though)

The change between a 275/40 and 285/40 is very small. Running through my calculator, the .20" additional diameter from the 285/40 tire would be like changing from 3.73 gears to 3.69 gears, giving you a 1% variance on the speedometer. In other words, gearing will effectively be unchanged.

What will you gain from a 285/40 R19, assuming leaving the fronts as 255/40 R19?

All these are slight changes:
- larger contact patch
- taller sidewall
- smoother ride
- improved steering response
- less understeer

Not to hijack the thread but does anyone make a wider version of the 19" PP wheel?

think amer muscle does they make a 19/10..

kn just trying to fill the well up a bit .. cause a 285/35 is smaller in od then a 275/40. im going to leave the 255s up front was thinking about going 275/35 front but if i decide on that im just going to get a whole diff rim and tire setup be better in the long run

im lowered on min drop springs i figured a 285/40 on the rear and some 20mm spacers front and rear ill be nice and flush and have some meat on the rear
