I saw one last night (first one I've seen in the wild at night, actually) and they were still lit up.

Different car, but for what it's worth the bars on my 2014 stay on at all times, as well (even though the fogs are technically the DRLs).

what is more interesting: what was it like to see the s550 i the wild? how exciting or boring was this sight so many of us are waiting for?

Keep in mind that the Canadian spec has the same DRL "issue" (the tri-bars are not the actual DRLs).

It was pretty exciting. I've seen a few at dealerships, but hadn't seen any on the road before. Contrary to what some people seem to say (we'll call them the Fusioncoupe crowd), I instantly could tell that it was a Mustang as soon as I saw it.
