... and why I keep tagging you in posts :D

Lots of good info. in this thread. I like Rob's idea of using washers to figure out how large of a spacer is needed.

It's been a busy week so I need to make time to add the washers. I'm even contemplating shaving off some of the caliper if its really close. =)

I'll keep you guys posted.

My shop guy is stating that the BBS 10.5" wheel clear the front with a 25mm by about 2mm. Almost too close for comfort. Why are Brembo calipers so huge?!

The only issue is the lug nut size is a one off size. The bolt hole for the BBS wheel is mean for a 5/8" wheel stud. The lug nuts meant for a 1/2" stud do seat right due to the shape/angle/size of the stud/thread area.

I haven't verified myself but that is what my mechanic said.

Would you guys recommend 1/2" stud over a 12mm stud? Someone stated that wheels are not stud size centric so is there big a difference other than the nut size and torque values?

Should i use the 1/2" because we're in America and we don't care for Metric Values? LOL.

I just want to the same lug nut and stud to work on an APEX track wheel and stock wheel. I don't want to have to carry two separate sets of lugs.

Thanks!

Eric, Allstar makes a 1/2" nut for the BBS wheels but I would try the standard nuts first to see how much the 5/8" hole exposes the seat of the nut.

Thanks Tim.

The issue is am I comfortable running a caliper that is <2mm from hitting the barrel.

I remember that brembo and stoptech give 3mm minimum clearance recommendation.

Cortex said that those wheels were too close for comfort. Cortex said the same thing about HRE FF15 wheels. The 18x10.5 et 48 wheels (with 12mm in front) barely clear by literally a business card. It was too close for comfort so they recommend 19" (for that wheel) to their customers) that have GT PP.

I have to see the clearance in person so I can make that decision.

I spoke with someone I know personally at Apex and they said at the end of the month, they will be making a splash on the forum and taking surveys of what people want.

Out of curiosity, I just walked out to the garage and roughly measure clearance between my Apex EC-7's and brembo's at roughly 8mm's at the closest point.

I'm glad to hear feedback on the BBS 302 wheels.

I'm looking forward to the new apex wheels. I saw that they are fielding the new wheels to the BMW crowd now. Hopefully we get them by the spring.
