I recently had the api radio module ( I believe it was ) replaced in my 2016 Mustang GT and now it's broke again. Went to Ford the other day and they put a scan tool of some sort on it and found it to be faulty and ordered new one which is in (can't be installed till next week)but my long winded post/question is ....
Yesterday my battery was doa which I thought was odd because it was replaced in May and I mean dead. It took me 2 hrs to get it to charge enough to start car and after shutting off I heard from the radio/center stack area a "Whirling" noise and discovered that it never stopped even after car shut off and doors opened then closed so I figured this is my battery drain. I found fuse for audio head unit and pulled it and noise stopped but is it odd that infotainment screen is still on and functions except radio as it didn't function anyway. I know I pulled radio fuse but I just thought the whole infotainment system would just be black also does anyone know what that whirling sound could have been? Sounds like CD player spinning with nothing in it ? Do these units have a small HD and that's what was spinning ?
Thanks and any input would.helo me to understand WTH is going on with this module.

Thanks

There is a CD player in the 2016 sync unit. It is not uncommon for cd players to fail in that fashion where the mechanical part of the player remains on spin up, and it’s also extremely likely that although integrated, that the CD player is powered independently from the screen itself (within the confines of the construction of the sync unit).
Check to see if a cd is stuck?

Sounds like it just keeps running as you say, I had to pull audio fuse in order to save my battery.
This Tuesday in have to bring car into Ford and let's see what happens.

Thanks for info. 👍
