My amp came with high pass and low pass filters, but is very limited on the frequency restrictions. My alternative is to buy a crossover like this to limit the frequency range of my mids. Once I set the crossover up, then connect it to the amp, do I just turn the high pass filters off on the amp, and turn them to full pass, then let the crossover do all the work?

Yep, that would work...

Sweet. With all the highs going through the mids, its shifting the sound to the rear. I think by cutting it off at 600 it would be good.

That unit seems too cheap to be of any quality.Just my observation,I could be wrong. It may add more noise than do you any good.Check out
http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/cross.asp. You can make your own.All it needs is a coil choke wired into the positive lead. They have calculators on that site to figure what frequency you want to cross at.

Just my 2 cents

I agree that the Boss is certainly not a top brand but the selection of decent ones may have gotten slim since most amps do have one built in now. I believe JL has a 6 ch with a band pass option. I also would be hesitant to go with just a passive coil as they are power hungry.

I am running the jl audio xd 600/6 and have played around with the slopes.Yes a passive coil is abit power hungry, but the system sounds better running wide open with the crossover at the speaker ,not by limiting the signal feeding it.

Just my 2 cents....ymmv
