Since you're in NC like me, do you have any worries about the light transfer rate on your tints? I had my windows done a few weeks ago with SunTek Carbon 35 because I didn't want to risk having an overly strict "by-the-book" inspection shop or police officer pull out their photometer and test my windows before deciding if they'd pass my inspection or give me a ticket. For those who aren't familiar with NC laws, a 35% VLT rate is the darkest allowed for the majority of passenger vehicles.

Also, what film are you using? That's a pretty high solar energy rejection percentage. Even the super limo dark SunTek Carbon 5 film only has a TSER of 50%. Are you maybe thinking of UV light rejection instead?
Florida law is 20% in the back 35% up front. I have had 3 or 5% on all of my cars and Ive gotten maybe three tickets since I started driving, I am 22 now.
That being said if you EVER drive after you've been drinking, do not get illegal tint, that right there is something they WILL use as an excuse to pull you over and check you out. Ive been pulled 15-20 times for my tint just to check me out then they let me go without even a written warning.

Good grief man. Three tickets for tints already? I was born in Florida and lived down there for 13 years before I moved to NC in 2007. Never had any tickets for dark tints, but had plenty of speeding tickets until my last one at age 23 back near the end of 2003. Have a squeaky clean record since then. It's tough with the Mustang now though, and there's a pool in my office going to see how long I can own the car before I get a ticket.

That is an INSANE number of times to be pulled over just for your tints. Why not just go with 20% all around and avoid drawing attention to yourself?

well, to be honest when I was young I had a lifted silverado and I was always doing stupid stuff(burnouts, drifting, always out past 2am) with my friends, so they would pull me hoping to get me on something some day. before that, when I was 16, I had an expedition on 24s with a loud system and everything so they just didn't like me. In the stang and in my last car which was a 335 I haven't gotten pulled for tint, I think it was just because I was driving douche-mobiles before.

too long didn't read: I used to be a douche and got pulled over, I am no longer a douche so i don't get pulled over.

Definitely tint first, and yes matte black stripes on a black car look great. Here's mine.

As others have said do tint first. Everytime I see pictures of these matte stripes with a pinstripe of blue/lime green etc it makes me regret getting a white car. Looks great btw

Tint first! FYI on the tint. If you want to stay legal with the 35% you may want to go a bit higher in the percentage. The stock windows have a little tint to it. About 3%.

I agree with the Tint crowd. Not just for looks, but for privacy and protection from uv rays. It's one of the first things I always do to a new vehicle (along with floor mats and trunk liner).
