Question for anyone with a pnr ice tank

I got the 7gallon tank with the rule pump. The install kit came with a relay but I don’t see why it’s needed. Seems to me you just have it come on with your 12v source or maybe from the Whipple pump harness. Anyone know a particular reason that it should be used?

Well I don't know anything about the kit or pump, but I would assume you would use the whipple pump harness or your 12v switched source as the trigger to the relay supplied and use a direct (fused) battery source for the actual power to the pump. Anything high amp'd should be wired like that.
