Question about TPMS

Hello,

I'm about to get a 2015 V6 and it comes with TPMS. If I were to get a new set of wheels+tires, what happens then? Do I constantly have to deal with the TPMS icon being lit (which sounds extra annoying) or is there a way to over-ride it?

You get a set of sensors and have them installed with your new wheel-tire set or you deal with TPMS icon being lit. Alternatively you can swap, but it makes little sense to me since you need disassemble your current wheels. Sensors are ~$100 set of 4.

Whats the procedure for changing wheels? I want to have a winter wheel/tire set with their own sensors. Do they need to be retrained every time I swap the sets on the car? or it ll be seamless?

Why wouldn't you want to utilize the TPMS? Seems odd. Takes 10 minutes to dismount 4 tires, put sensors in, and mount them back up.

No, they don't need to be retrained. The 15s work off certain frequencies, and they just go with it. When I mounted my Velgens, I just put them on and rode out.

Are you saying that when I change my summer wheels to winter I, myself, can take off the sensors from summer and put them on on winter and just keep doing that back and forth? Is it complicated or just a matter of snapping them off?

I was under the impression I had to have a shop do this, which is why I didn't care to have it.

I was just about to make a post asking about this. I was calling some places around to get my tires done today, but I am swapping out my old sensors, and one of the places told me that they can't do that because it's connected. I was thinking yeah that doesn't sound right.

This. Mounting and dismounting pretty quickly will exceed the cost of getting a set of sensors.

This. And there's no need for the training remote, from what I've seen on my own personal vehicle. As stated above, we simply put new sensors on new wheels, took old wheels/tires off, put new wheels/tires on.
