Question about Specific Paintwork Problem

I know we've all had various degrees of paintwork problems with the Mustang - from relatively minor stuff to things that needed fixing before collection. I got away relatively scot-free (or so I thought) until I noticed two problems yesterday (after 7 weeks!) where the rear panel/'bumper' meets the main body - and on both sides! The paintwork here is a little rough and some white has (started?) to come through - pics attached.
Anyone else had this? I ask as I'm not sure if it is something I've missed or is something that is new (the white going through that is).
Also, has anyone with experience of Ford fixing paintwork under warranty come across a time-limit - i.e., it has to be reported within a certain time after collection? (IMO, it's clearly a fault from the factory given the perfect symmetry on both sides.)

Might just be me, but it there paint above this 'white line' to me it looks like it's just black bumper plastic and the white IS the edge of the paint? (could have been caused due to bad masking when painting etc).

Warranty is there for you for at least the first year; so yes you can still go back legally because of it... just expect ford to put up a fight like u were trying to take their baby off them!!!

The picture isn't great - autofocus misses the target - but above and below the white is definitely paint (Guard), not black plastic. And the white is intermittent anyway (another sign of it being a flaw), so definitely not an 'edge'.

It's going to be difficult going through warranty I would imagine. And let's be honest they are only going to do a touch up on it. Is it something you could do maybe? I know you shouldn't have to but you love your mustang more than the dude at ford so will probably do a much better job

I would, but I'm rubbish with touch-ups, and Think Ford have a body shop, so are bound to do a bit better? :headbonk:

Bring me guard touch up paint and your car, i'll do it for you in an hour :lol:.

Its the poor moulding on the bumper plastic. I have the same on my TY and took it to Ford in Peterborough. They compared it to a couple of others and their demo and showroom cars. All of them had it to a degree and its due to the sharp edge on the moulding. They wouldn't do anything about it and said it looks like its just part of the car. (usual response from my dealer though tbh)

Canadian here, just picked up mine on Thursday. Same exact problem both sides. I showed some work friends and I think they are right on it being poor molding vs. actual paint. Going to take in to the dealer on Monday to have them look over some fit and finish flaws. Will update you on how/if they take care of it if it'll help.

If it's rough edges, might need sanding down then painting, My offers open if you bring the touch up paint, can't promise it'll be professional (such as a full respray), but I'm handy with a brush at least and it'll be about 80% unnoticeable - but that's the same with most touchup paints:lol:

Another Canadian (well the car is) Im London, I need to check mine, as have had her detailed and this was not pointed out to me, other bits were which i never noticed like overpaint, was not bad, but after being detailed the paint looked perfect.
Mind you everytime I take her to my detailer, he points out something, last time was a small dent, someone had kinkly left me, but his dent bloke done a perfect job.
Anyone got any better pictures on this paint issue?

It's rough edges from the moulding process.

I noticed it on both the demo cars that my dealer's had. It's just a poor manufacturing process after which there's no secondary QC or handling/preparation prior to painting.

As much as it's a premium car to us, it's a mass produced car to it's home market, and with the worldwide demand for it continuing apace, they're trying to chuck them out faster than sausage rolls at Gregg's and Big Macs at you know where!... so their QC is just about out the window, full stop, as far as I can see!

speaking of rough edges, the rear lights on the moulding points also have rough edges at times. Worth a sand down if ever tinting as one of my tints split because of it....
