Just cleaned my car today and there’s getting to be quite a considerable build up of tiny black flecks all along both flanks and more so round the wheel arches. I’m assuming this to be rubber from my own tyres, though I can’t quite get my head around the spread of this stuff.

It won’t shift with normal washing, either with pressure washer or wash mit. And it really stands out on the CO!

Just wondered if someone could recommend a product and/or method of safely removing this stuff?

Thanks

Get some tar remover, either Tardis or Intensive Tar Remover should do the trick

Tardis! That’s it, someone has told me about this before. I’m a bit shy of using a clay bar, but thanks for the advice.

Pretty sure the stuff sound the arches is rubber, seems to have got more intense since putting on my winter tyres (soft compound, makes sense) also feels quite rubbery if you gently remove a fleck! Perhaps the rest is tar, just didn’t expect it this time of year?
