Hello All,

I have requested a quote for a, MT-82 Equipped GT/standard/standard, Gripper Shifter Knob, Pony, M12 x 1.25, and a Chrome-Plated Billet OEM Knob Adapter

It is for a 2016 Mustang GT Fastback.

Any recommendations for anything else related to a shifter update to get now? I will not be drag racing. I do an occasional track day, maybe 2 x a year. I typically drive my Mustang as a DD, spirited runs. I do not spin wheels at each opportunity. When I do put the power down, I like to roll it on. No hard starts or slamming on brakes.

I could possibly be going out of work on disability in the next 6 months or so. If that happens, my spending will be very limited for Mustang mods. I'd like to get done what I can now and hang onto the car for a long time!

Not sure I understand your question....what you get from the factory is what you get. All of us with the MT82 got the same thing you will be getting...there are not many, if any, factory choices for the manual trans. The aftermarket has all kinds of stuff to make it a much better driving experience than what Ford delivers. The one thing you can do is after 1000 breakin miles is change the factory fluid to something like the BG or Royal purple product. That will help with the notchiness feeling you WILL have.

I guess it depends on the luck of the draw, or your own sensativities but the biggist disapointment in my 16 GT PP is the stock shifter. A lot of play and relatively easy for it to try and slide into the wrong gear.

So you may want to budget for a new shifter.

steel braided clutch line $60, transmission insert $20, shifter energy suppression bushing $20, clutch assist spring removal $0 or Steeda clutch assist spring $20, Royal Purple synchromesh or BG quick shift 2 transmission fluid $50 - $80 depending on where you get it and if you use a coupon or not, I get mine on pepboys.com when they have a 30% off and then pick it up locally but they only had Royal Purple synchromesh. for a budget you could just stop right there. if you start climbing higher in the RPM range you're either going to need to get better motor mounts to stop the motor from moving or get a better shifter, I personally got better engine mounts instead for two reasons, because of the intake manifold I chose, and for the price being around $150 - $175 versus the shifter being above $350. all eventually get a new shifter when I need a new clutch
