So, I made some time to tackle a long awaited install. I had the MGW Compact Race Spec Shifter and a new set of Redline Goods boots to put on the car, and I had just procrastinated for entirely too long. When my new Raceseng Ashiko Shift Knob was delivered, I'd decided I'd take care of the installs.

When I installed the MGW, I had some of the same frustrations most had with the 10mm bolt holding the front of the shifter to the transmission.

After enough grunting and swearing, I managed to get it out. Getting it back in was equally frustrating, but I'd been there before, and just stayed patient as best I could and got it back in without too much fuss.

The top bolt on the shift linkage was simple from the inside of the car.

I had no problem getting the dust boot on the shifter body from outside of the car, but once I dropped the shifter body through the console, I must have pulled the boot off while working from underneath to secure the "arms". No big deal.

I had already made sure that the reverse lockout and 1-2 throws were correct, so I had used the loctite and didn't want to break the bond. So, I decided to just pull the boot and put it on oldschool.

Also, very frustrating, until I decided to use a little dish soap on the bottom of the boot. Made it effortless!

I gladly paid the price of admission for this incredible piece of machinery. If I could afford it, I'd buy a second one to keep on my desk! They're that gorgeous!
