The spare key my dealer gave me isn't programmed to the car. Is it possible to program the key to the car myself or can this only be done at the dealer?

It's in your manual, it's not difficult to program yourself.

Aftermarket FOBs

Has anyone bought and programmed a aftermarket FOB for the Mustang? It's hard to believe the manufactures can get that kind of money ...$500 for one FOB. It's not just Ford...my Town and Country van with remote start costs about the same.

Should the spare key already be programmed when the dealer gives it to you?

Good to know, I'll have to make sure my spare is programmed once mine finally comes in.

For kicks and giggles I bought a spare '15 smart key off eBay, specifically one with the pony on it... Long story short, I programmed it to 2 different '15 rental Mustangs and mine at home... All worked fine! Only problem would be if you want the spare mini key. Some eBay keys have a blank, some don't. Just follow the directions in your owner's manual.

Are you saying you programmed your spare key without already have two other programmed keys? Did you follow the instructions in the manual?

Do you have a link to the vendor? I would like to do this as well (I have both of my original keys) to make one with the limits in place.
