yea before buying the car I ruled out 401A Shaker Pro reading the reviews here. The upgraded system Im doing is going to cost less than that package
It includes blind spot monitoring and some other things I can't remember. The blis is one of the most important features of my entire car. That and you'll never find another sub that looks as nice and fits oem like the shaker.

At least if you're upgrading then really upgrade. Don't downgrade the whole interior and features for a nicer exhaust sound. If you're about to lose a few thousand dollars anyways you might as well do it for a true upgrade. You're in the interior 100% of the time. Go ahead and get the premium gt. Then you can say you truly upgraded. You're losing many features you're going to miss. There's many guys here that say they don't regret not buying a premium. There's a million reasons they come up with.. leather is too hot, pony lights are gimmicks, added weight. I've yet to hear someone say anything about the bigger screen in the premium. The small screen and number key buttons surrounding the small screen was the main reason I couldn't go back to a base. Especially after having had a premium.

I loved the 04 cobra.... Basic... Simple, drivers car. The sound system was fine, buuuuut... You could upgrade the heady it easy peasy in that car. I could far less for blind spotters, power seats, screens and everything else really. I want to go GT with cloth recaro seats and be able to throw on a jam and drive. I listen to mostly country music but I enjoy it and want to hear it clear even driving on the highway. The bass is nice too because you hear more out of the music not just the pounding from other genres... Has there been any advancement on getting a head unit in these cars yet?

Sounds fine in the car depending on source. CD > HD Radio > MP3 > AM radio > Satalite.

I have never wished it was any louder, because i am 43, and only idiots blair loud ass music at stoplights with the windows down. (as an adult)
I guess I am an idiot then. I love my music loud and clear. There is no sense to knock people with different tastes than you.

And what sounds fine to you, can certainly sound bad to people with discerning ears.

The Shaker in my car sounded horrible to me, regardless of source. I know it's not just me that does not like it either, this whole section is littered with people who think it is not up to par.

I have over 3k into the stereo in my Mustang, and it is finally to the point where I am happy with it. It is well rounded now. No boomy bass, just crystal clear audio.

I have the boomy bass in my Crown Vic, but it is almost equally as clear because I spent time and money to make sure of that.

That is what is in the trunk of the Vic. I wish I had the original picture still, but it was on a phone many phones ago.

Yea that's for sure. The shaker system is not even close to where I should be as it's packed into the price.

That is one thing that bothers me, you can only get option A if you buy option B and C... Pisses me off.

What if I don't want the other options...

For me I just want a base car, maybe a PP and recaros and I would like the upgraded sound system.... Nothing else... I don't like the premium pack. It's too expensive for things I could easily live without

blind spot and memory seats. But the cars visibility is pretty good already especially when you use the curved mirror in the side mirrors. I still found myself looking back on my previous car that had blind spot warning. The memory seat feature that scoots the seat back a few inches when you get out wouldve been cool but I dont have trouble now.

I worry about simply relying on the BLIS system. I had a rental car for a hot second and went to change lanes, noticed I didn't look because my mirror said nothing and last minute I turned my head. No one was there but I then realized that I relied on that system and I absolutely should not...

if you never want to pull apart panels and replace speakers...401a is perfect. i've said this over and over on this forum, my days of pulling speakers and replacing speakers and making the interior rattle is over. 401a while it could sound better it sounds pretty damn good when tuned appropriately to never have to replace speakers.

we all listen to the exhaust more anyways right? lol

The base system isn't that bad, my biggest gripe with it is the terrible eq. It's as if ford made the band's of equalization humongous so if you only want to adjust treble, it seems to move everything around from 2kHz-16kHz. An easy way around it is to leave the eq flat and use your phone's eq while playing music over BT. It helps a lot.

That being said, I already swapped my entire stereo out, added amps, and subs as well. MUCH better.

It's terrible.. The speakers are only run off the head unit. I have the 12speaker shaker and love it :) could be better but it's great for what it is

Don't worry about the Base system as it's not as bad as some have bitched about. I have that base system in my vert and can hear it fine including deep bass at all speeds up to 75mph with the top down. But if you usually listen to
Metallica "wide open", then you will need a custom setup. But the best music ever produced in a Mustang is the melodious exhaust rumblings.:headbang:
Agreed

This is all good info, i feared going from my premium Eco system with shaker to a base system and being like "oh great" but I don't have any problem putting that money that would been spent on all the options, right back into the system
