Right.. when you have marginal signal outside.. "environmental interference" becomes much more an issue..

Things that don't affect a strong signal are much more likely to affect a poor to weak signal..

Since Satellite doesn't show signs of bad signal like AM/FM does like static.. you won't know until it just drops out.. There is a diag screen you can go into.. Ill look to see if there is a sat radio section
Go to diagnostics, satellite signal.

scroll all the way to the right, you'll see satellites labeled S vs G. Those should be sirius

BTW, when driving past a large antenna mast, when sirius goes out, ALL GPS signal goes out. It will knock all values to 0 temporarily.

That tells me its an antenna situation then.. I think it will be a antenna issue.. I really believe them splitting that signal is the issue..

On the older cars before MFT.. if you upgraded to a factory nav you would have to replace the antenna if you didn't want to add an antenna for GPS.. so it may have been a silly oversight by Ford to keep pushing out cars with the same antenna.. it sounds like in this thread it is a SYNC 3 issue only.. I have never had Sat radio issues... and I have had Many Fords.. none Sync 3..

Sounds like Ford is going to be replacing a ton of antennas

I have had issues with my 2016 GT pp were signal will drop while driving in a wide open area on a sunny day. I talked to the dealer and got the same response of they can only look at it if I drop it off for a few days.

Just got a call from my dealer, Ford is requesting the car on 2/9. They think it will be more than one day, so we'll see.

I will keep everyone updated here!

I have some reception problems too but not as bad as in the 16s, looks like. Still a lot worse reception than in our Durango though.

If you had a '16 youd know. Our '14 focus w/MFT isn't as good as my Audi was, but the 16 is in it's own world of bad...

Dropped my car off today, Tech Hotline requested it for 2 days, so we'll see what comes...

edit: the tech hotline suggestion was to replace the antenna with the same part antenna.

Needless to say it does not appear to have fixed any problems. They're trying to downplay it by saying that it only cuts out for 2-3 seconds... as if that makes it OK.

It requires a new part, plain and simple. Doubt we'll ever get there.

Wait! I have an update.

I got called today by my dealer. Ford overnighted an "improved" part for arrival tomorrow. It's paint to match so they're gonna try to get it painted and on tomorrow.

My writer didn't know much in the way of details but did say that ford claims this part should resolve the problem.

Fingers crossed!

Bingo.

But I am curious why they didn't test that right away?? I don't get the ford tech hotline. Oh well. Hope this works.

I have the same issue on my 16. If the new part works please post the part number and details so I can pass them along to my dealer

Just picked up my car from service, 8 days later.

The car is just as bad as it ever was. 0% improvement. Of course the paperwork was not ready, so I have no idea what parts were installed, or if they're blowing smoke up my ass at this point.

I am at 25 days total shop time on a car purchased December 5th. 5 more days and I will contact a CA Lemon Law Attorney and be done with this.

Damn mbaran ... that blows. I had my fingers crossed that a new antenna would resolve it. I assume they didn't provide any feedback at all?

What they need to do is go to a simple single GPS antenna and use the same Sirius antenna system in pre-sync3 systems.
