Plastic Melting Somewhere In The Engine Bay

Randomly noticed a strange smell about 5 days ago. It was present in the cabin but I quickly determined that its coming from the engine bay. No smoke, no sign of anything burning or getting overly hot, all temps are normal and fluids are good. Car is running perfectly but the smell is present and intense nonetheless.

have you had anything recently done under the hood, maintenance or modifications?
have you looked under the car to see if your have something stuck on the exhaust that you picked up while driving?

Haven't done any mods in about a month and the smell seems to be coming from above the exhaust but that's a good point I'll jack up the car and check

Knew a few people that ran over a plastic bag that got caught on the exhaust and melted producing the exact same smell.

Plastic bag melted on the exhaust is my guess.

Plastic bag likely. Had it happen before and it sucks. If I ever have to drive over a floating one on the highway, I always look in the mirror to see if it comes out the back. Not much you can do about it.

Make sure it isn't oil. I had a similar smell and it turned out the dealership didn't tighten my filter and oil was all over the engine.

Luckily it was just a bag!!
