Paddle shifters vs auto

So the sport mode and sport plus mode on a 2016 GT tuned, is it faster just keeping it in auto or using paddle shifters and shifting high rmps to next gear for roll racing, digs? Always wondered. Roll racing i could see dropping down to say 2nd gear and starting but for aftermarket tunes does it effect paddle shifting as much?

Use the paddle to hold the gear... floor it and put it in drive.

Or have your tuner give you a "roll race" tune. I use the paddles to get the desired gear and it upshifts under wide open throttle only without having to bump the shifter back into drive.
