Been on this for a few years but havent posted for a long time and now im of to the dark side, literally.. Traded the Mustang in on Monday against a new M4 comp pack, totally different car and im sure itll get some interesting comments on here..

Loved the Mustang and i still miss seeing it when the garage opens but definitely happy with the change so far.

Gonna miss the looks, the engine and the sound but i wont miss the twice f****ed air con, broken cruise control or the intermittent problem with the voice activation button they could never find and I definitely wont miss dealing with Ford.

All the best, its an amazing motor that has so many smiles per mile

I did the opposite. Got out of my over-priced, money suck called an M Car. Great driving car, but wait until you have to fix it yourself out of warranty. $1200 for a thermostat? Really? Throttle actuators with plastic gears, rod bearing with clearance issues, an electrical system that turns to dust in 10 years and a $200 battery that needs a dealer to install or you'll short out the computer system. But yeah, they turn real nice.

Good switch but I reckon you may well sorely miss the v8 soundtrack though.

I’ve had mod’d M4 convertibles for the last 3 years, with the MPE exhaust and exhaust valve controller, and IMO I thought they sounded superb.
I got the Mustang thinking I would be like a pig in sht, picking whether to drive the M4 or the Mustang. In reality, the M4 never got a look in, I always picked the Mustang even on days where I could’ve got the M4’s roof down.
Don’t get me wrong, the M4 is a beautiful piece of machinery. And sitting in it, with it’s acres of nappa leather and carbon fibre and all it’s gadgetry (HUD, 3D cameras, DCT) , I always thought it was my ideal car and one that I would keep for a very long time.
But all that just couldn’t compete with the Mustang’s v8+Roush+h-pipe, so much so, the M4 went to a new home a couple of weeks back, pointless keeping it just to sit in a garage........

However, good luck with your new car - an M4 IS a superb car and one that I’m sure you will enjoy loads

Wow if these are the issues that bothered you you will LOVE the issues your BMW will bring! My M235xi spent over 35 days total at the dealer in the 3 years I had it, all for minor issues like broken fans, non-working A/C randomly, and failing suspension bits after a year and a half.

Interesting you mention the failing suspension... I had an '04 Z4 from new that had a known problem where the rear coils failed after about 3-4 years (i.e. just outside warranty), instant MoT fail. Of course, BMW said it was wear and tear (even thought they all failed) so I had to fork out £350 for a single spring (I was selling it so wasn't fussed about matching them!). Only time I've had to replace failed/worn suspension components on any car I've owned in the last 30-odd years. Not to mention the folding mirror that didn't, the major leaks when it rained, the constant squeaking from the trim (leather on plastic - fitted some sticky felt!), etc.

Ultimately no car is perfect, so you just have to roll with it and choose one that you enjoy driving...

All manufactures have issues with car it just depends if you unlucky to get one that does my Audi A6 Bi turbo was in loads over five years I had it under warranty
paint peeling of the lower valance
replacement rear light assembly you cant just change the bulbs in the LED tail lights
replacement rear screen the defrost interfered with the radio
sensor on the engine caused it to run in reduce power the sensor was 35 quid I was told that where it was would be a 650 quid job thank god for warranty
satellite Antenor failed
wheel tracking on the car from new was so bad that the tyres at front got down to the wire on a very thin strip on the inside front while the rest of the tyre had 5mm of tread left and it was so far inside that you could no see it on full lock took them two times to sort this and two sets of tyres
fuel filler cap would not unlock at all faulty sensor
and even the dealership can be dodgy in every make Audi damaged my centre console during the antenna replacement took me 6 months of arguments for them to agree to change it
booked in for an MOT on a sat turned up only to be told they don't do MOT`s on a sat MOT ran out on the Sunday was not impressed as above took them two attempts to sort out wheel alignment which I considered dangerous as you really could not tell it was wearing like it was I only found it as I was having a thorough check of tyres and a piece of the carcase wire snagged my hand it was wearing over an area of about 10 mm on the inside of the tyre
other than that loved the car and had a great sound and was really a wolf in sheeps clothing debaged and just looked like an ordinary A6 and had a 0-60time of 5.1 seconds but that's what I traded in for my mustang lol
I still look back every time I park her up
I cant recall the last time I even used the stereo in the mustang lol

Enjoy your new car tho and fingers crossed that you have no issues at all

True that and I really loved that car and it was a great machine. I'm in no way saying it's bad, just that you're gonna have issues with BMW's most likely too.
