Thanks man. It was done by "Mr. Sparkle" here on Long Island. He is a great guy and does great work. He is on all the auto detailing forums. Here is one of the threads he made when he did my car:

The key to applying the opticoat, like most everything else, is properly preparing the surface and that's where all the work and expense comes in. Once that is done the Opticoat is supposed to be "permanent"...basically like a second layer of clearcoat but stronger.

There is a lot of debate on whether it is actually permanent or not. And it's really hard to prove one way or the other.
Thanks for the heads up. Where on LI is he located? I grew up there and go back often so I may have him do it

$800 is a far cry from $1,300. And considering it was not a brand new car, with likely more paint correction needed, $800 isn't a total ripoff. A good detailer can charge $200-400/hour for paint correction. Anything more than $200 for Opticoat (which costs about $60-75) is a complete ripoff and anyone with half a brain can do it in their driveway

But sorry, $1,300 on a brand new car that should need very minimum paint correction and to do Opticoat is a total ripoff. If you need more than 1 hour of paint correction then you need to go back to your dealership because they hacked up the car bad in PDI and make the dealership correct it or get you to an outside detailer they contract with.

I found 2 small spots with very very faint tiny scratches on black that I had to correct and that's all.

He spent close to 18 hours, so it was a very good deal. Less then $50/hr. He basically underestimated the time it would take but wouldn't charge me more than he quoted. Said it was a new shop record in the amount of time spent:
