Bummer on the weather, but at least you got to drive one of the road of roads before it closed down for winter. From the looks of your video, the Furka probably closed the day after you were there.


If you're interested in doing another epic roadtrip, but maybe without the Mustang, look into flying into Sibiu, Romania, and tackling the Transfăgărășan and Transalpina in a rental. The Transfăgărășan is the most technical I've driven, and exhausting at 2.5 hours of insanity, and the Transalpina is the most unique and beautiful route I've seen...I also got a touch of vertigo hauling up one of the insane bits. Awesome. I was able to great 3/4 star hotels for 25 Euros a night, food is cheap, and they pore liberally with whiskey. Romania is MUCH less expensive than the exorbitant Switzerland, and more fun and raw too.

I was only there 10 days back, in a way the weather helped, as less traffic and seeing the snow and fog and ice, made it in a way more exciting.
When was you there? the weather looks beautiful?
It was weird other then Switzerland the weather was beautiful every where else, even in Zurich it was very hot, but once into the Alps it changed, and Piz Gloria was just freezing
Yea have heard about the above roads, but for me the buzz is driving the Stang, this was my 1st trip with the CS, before that had taken the S197 to
Germany and Austria
Denamark, Sweden and Norway
this trip was all about the 5 Passes and Monte-Carlo for me, and after taking nearly 8 hours of 3D video, I am over the moon I managed to get all the passes done, as was a bit nervous taking the lowered CS onto the Furka and the Splugen
But life should be a adventure

Well said about adventure. I was in Switzerland in the first week of August and the weather was premier. Your road trip list is impressive btw; the tunnel in Monaco is high on my list...it looks like you and I have a similar drive (pun intended two times over).

With my trips this was my 3rd
the 1st was in the old S197 Germany and Austria, as I had always wanted to get to the castle in Austria from the film Where Eagles Dare, it is one of my fav films, so was all about building a holiday round that
Germany with Colditz castle and Munich and other places like Berlin, then into Austria with Vienna and Salzburg

the 2nd 3 years back with the S197, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, easy roads, bridges and tunnels, and amazing Stockholm, and other places

So this one was all about my dream of visiting Piz Gloria, so the Passes had to be done as was right there, aimed to do 4 in one day coming in from Zurich, and then the Splugen as was crossing into Italy. Monaco was just a dream place, once in Milan had to be done, and as a F1 fan and having watched the GP for many years had to drive the track, would not have been happy had they closed both ends, its amazing you drive round it, and it seems so different to how you see it on the TV, going past the Casino was also a buzz, and I do like to enjoy myself on these trips with the Bad language and the daft commentary
I think if i had gone out any later a lot of the passes would have been closed.
Usually go away early August so this time was a month later
