Oil coolers on the gt

I was just wondering if someone into mechanics could answer a few questions for me. Would be appreciated.

Is the engine oil cooler on the mustang a liquid to liquid cooler? Is it on the bottom left hand side of the block with cooling coming in from the bottom radiator outlet? Are the mishimoto aftermarket engine coolers a liquid to air cooler, and not liquid to liquid?

I am also thinking that the auto transmission cooler lines go in behind the radiator and in front of the condensor? Is there a small radiator type auto cooler attached to the back of the radiator? A liquid to air cooler setup?

Without going and getting underneath my GT, I can almost certainly say that the oil cooler is liquid to air. The GT350 likely has something more exotic, but I believe the oil cooler to just be a few fins, like a heat sink.

The GT350 has an (engine) oil to air heat exchanger in the driver's side lower inlet.

The 2015+ Coyote V8 has an (engine) oil to water heat exchanger, like the Boss 302.

The base 2011-14 GTs do not have an engine oil cooler.

2012-13 Boss 302's have oil to water heat exchangers that are popular upgrades for 11-14 GTs.

Thanks for the help guys. Someone told me that they thought the Aussie engine oil cooler might be located in a different spot than the USA version but not sure.

Do all gt's have an auto tranny cooler standard? Even the aussie version?

You're right, the RHD oil cooler is in a different spot.
It's a water to oil cooler.

This picture is taken with my car up on jack stands, I'm under the left hand seat, camera facing forwards.
The cat is the big round thing.
The oil cooler is the little square box in the centre of the picture. It looks horribly useless at cooling anything, and super fragile to boot.

Remember also that oil to water devices are not just coolers. As water is the fastest liquid to heat(due to of course, exposure to combustion temperatures)in an engine, it actually warms the oil to a more desirable temp faster than a normal "cooler" would meaning better engine durability. Now if only they could build them in a higher quality manner than they currently do! More than a few milkshakes have been caused in both engine and transmissions where they are used.

There's also the option of an oil cooler that is thermostat controlled allowing the rapid heating up of oil to operating temperature and then diverting oil through the cooler when it's hot (eg mishimoto has a thermostat option)
