Just picked up an '18 GT350R...aka "Ruby" ...traded in a 2015 Porsche 911 C4 GTS which was nice, but wanted to try something a little different. I've never owned an American car as an adult out of college, time to fulfill that Mustang dream since they are now obviously hitting it out of the park with the GT350 series. Nothing wrong with the rest of the line, either, these days!

The R must stand for "Reach," but my second choice (their GT350 in Kona w/white) would have worked fine, too. Third was a Bullitt. Still, I wanted something a bit more exotic, if that much more difficult to actually drive on the road! My recent test drive totally sold the car, btw. I suspect they basically sell themselves to those who enjoy performance driving: I road-raced motorcycles three seasons in the 1990s. Initial pictures:

Congrats!!! Great color. I'm guessing it was from Pierre Ford. I considered that car but it was still in transit. I went for a used 2017 out of state. Transport was a major pain but love the car. I test drove a SB 350 at Pierre and scraped coming out of the lot :-). The R is even lower.
Enjoy and watch that front splitter.

Correct in your assumption! They warned me about the lot, too, and there is a "trick" to getting out (grin). It worked... my 911.1 C4 GTS was a scraper, too. I had a skid plate installed on the bottom that solved that for the most part, and well too.

About Ruby...yeah...I've had my eye on it awhile, and just assumed it was an out-of-reach jackpot. Let me be careful in my words...seemed to me might have a substantial markup as-advertised, and it's a free country after all. Sunday I went in honestly searching for a Bullitt, but their floor Bullitt was sold. Just for giggles, I asked their most-excellent sales lady co-pilot a test drive in a GT350, just like yourself. From there, the cars sell themselves. As everyone here knows, especially if one has the heart of a pirate and nerves of a flinty-eyed missile man, as they say.

I made a play for Ruby, and ....it worked out to a Win-Win. I do believe timing played a part, as often happens in life. There was a Plan B and Plan C for me, as I was impressed by many on-the-lot cars. Sales handled me just right, too, which was a pleasant surprise.

Ugh I've typed 3x responses and deleted all of them. Let's just say this was the smoother choice between me and the girlfriend.

ZL1 1LE---I LOVED IT except when I was driving on a, you know, road
ZL1 1LE--Girlfriend HATED IT, you know, everywhere.

I currently work outside of the US. So now and then I would have to BEG her to drive the LE, just to DRIVE IT, you know? Not let it sit, service, etc. She hated it. Fast forward to a few weeks ago and here I am.

Props to girlfriend though.

"Doesn't beat the shit out of me" I think is the quote. She doesn't give a damn about cars so she says, but she knows what she likes if that makes sense. I'm the same---I'm not a Ford guy, a Chevy guy, I'm a Car Guy.
Got the Shelby middle of March, drove it well until 1 k miles, then oil change. Put 200 spirited miles on it afterwards then parked it until September. Between now and then she'll be driving it 2x monthly.
Meanwhile I'll be shipping parts :)
