He just answered me today about my replacement knob. He didn't answer yesterday. Said he was slammed but still only 28~ hours late with a reply, is better than no reply at all.

I ordered from flossy over a month ago, Was told 2/3 weeks, Emailed them twice. No reply,
So have requested a refund.
Good product. Slow communication.

I tried to order from them, and ended up cancelling as well.

Anybody with speeddawg please help...just got a short throw shifter with my shift knob put on today...but I ordered another one that I originally wanted and came in after I came home from my install.

I can't take off the shift knob though...I'm turning it counter clockwise and it's not pulling off, Suggestions or am I doing something wrong?

If I am not mistaken you use loctite on install, try heating it with a blow dryer to get it nice and warm and than just use some grunt on it.

Took mine off last weekend. Took a whole lot of grunt and its hard to get any leverage. If I had the time to plan for it I would buy a strap wrench like this:

How long did the lathewerks knob take to be delivered?

That may sway me with them over flossy because i'm very impatient haha.

I think the total time was like 1.5 weeks or so? I paid extra to speed up production. He has options for that and shipping speed on the Lathewerks site.

Picked up a custom Flossy as well.

RocketPony Snowball

uploadfromtaptalk1440199192890.webp

I didn't want to spill the beans on this, as I was hoping that Flossy would still hold up their end, but here it is...

WARNING - DO NOT ORDER FROM FLOSSY - THEY SUCK AT CUSTOMER SERVICE AND DO NOT DELIVER (I wish I was joking)

Chad sent my order very quickly, gotta give the guy credit for that. Too bad it was the wrong artwork x2. Then promised to provide return shipping, didn't, and went radio silence. Now dealing with the credit card company to get the $$$ back.

If you want to save yourself a couple weeks of waiting and disappointment, please please do not order from Flossy. If you just want an easy off the shelf knob, maaaybe give them a try. Anything complicated, good luck. It was obvious from the tone of his emails, that Flossy really doesn't care about quality. They are completely focused on quantity and couldn't give less fucks about individual customers.

There are pages and pages of customer complaints, but I chose not to listen..
I was seriously considering Flossy.. until I googled them.

Guy never ships, doesn't respond to emails, returns are not accepted, customers are filing paypal disputes and credit card charge backs. Not to mention that nice "griptape" finish ends up cracking after a few months, according to owners.

Juicy details, decide yourself:

Aug 12 - Submitted paid order for Flossy Shorty Snowball (500g white textured) with custom artwork.

I asked for a specific shift pattern and the rocketpony design. As instructed on their website, I emailed Chad a picture with the shift pattern I wanted from their own instagram page, of a ball they had done previously. I also emailed Chad the rocketpony artwork I whipped up.

I requested to see a final draft of the layout before they ran it, to avoid any miscommunication. Standard custom artwork practice :frusty:

Aug 12 - Chad replies quickly and effectively. We discuss artwork location and sizing. I think everything is gravy.

Aug 14 - I get a little worried/anxious and email "So what does the final art and sizing look like?"

Aug 14 - Chad replies "We already ran it and shipped it. Will send a photo later. It looks DOPE!"

Aug 14 - Oh well, hope it works out. Try to stay positive and polite. Gut feeling of.. dammit I knew this was going to happen, should have listened to the reviews. I reply "Ok. I hope so!
Please send photo when you get a chance
"

Aug 14 - Chad: "No problem. Like I mentioned we resized the Pony, but it looks legit and we made the shift pattern like the pic you sent."

Aug 17 - Still no picture, but oh hey, look what's on their instagram..
WITH THE WRONG SHIFT PATTERN. :frusty:
Also, the rocketpony looks wayyy worse in real life. As in, barely able to tell what the hell it is it's so small.

I email Chad, trying to remain calm, hoping for the best, and expecting to get shafted.. "Yo, I love what you did with this... but you know this is the wrong shift pattern right? ..
You guys do [great] work, don't get me wrong, but i really wanted to take a look at the final size/placement/art so we could avoid this. Ideally, the rocket pony would be even wider than the shift pattern so the detail shows through. Or if that's not possible, that's cool, but then i need to simplify the rocketpony art so it looks better at that size.
"

Aug 17 - Chad replies: "I am sorry about the shift pattern being wrong. For some reason I saw an image (I will look and see if I find an email from you) that showed the R encircled." :paddle:
"As for the RocketPony, I had mentioned to you that the image will not be the same as you may expect in size due to the fact you wanted it under the pattern..."
"Thank you and sorry it is not exactly as you expect...I thought it was great and keep getting compliments on it.
" (aka We thought it was cool, what's your deal. How is this a company's actual response, really???)

Aug 19 - I ask for a redo with the correct shift pattern and a larger rocketpony. They can't do the larger pony and don't want to screw it up again. Fine, fair.

Aug 26 - I request JUST a black knob with the correct shift pattern. Super easy, right? I offer to return the incorrect knob.

Sept 1 - No communication.. radio silence. Great. Here it goes. I email:
"Please tell me if you are able to resolve this error by making the new knob i requested.

If not please refund my order.

I have not heard anything from you in 2 weeks. If i don't recieve a response by this Friday, Sept 4th I will have to open a paypal dispute as I have not recieved what was ordered."

Sept 2 - He says send back the old knob. Great, can do. I say: clearly your error, you provide a return shipping label (i'm not paying to ship the wrong 500g knob). Normal right? He says he'll paypal me the money today..

Sept 3 - Me: "Hey Chad, send money please"

Sept 6 - Me: "Chad,

If I do not receive funds for shipping by 5pm Tuesday, September 8th, I will begin the dispute process. I am not happy.

This is exactly the situation I asked you about before I placed my order. You assured me:

"We are a smaller shop (depends on who you compare to though) but we do ship thousands of knobs per year with very happy customers. Unfortunately, as you may know, the few unhappy ones make the most noise. If you were uncertain, you can easly pay with Paypal and dispute/file a claim to get your money back if you were that worried about it."
"

Sept 9 - Radio silence once again.. Contacted Chase, began dispute process to get my $111.99 back.

Much fun, still knobless, have expensive paperweight. blah.

if you want a heavy knob, and don't have some super specific request - flossy is fine. also note you will wait 3weeks+ for your knob.

if you have something super custom - flossy is bad.

no vendor out there competes with flossy - thus leaving us to only order from them until others step up and do what flossy does but with better customer service.
