I ordered the OEM spare tire kit from American Muscle. I know it won’t work with the performance pack with the Brembo’s but I don’t have that. I then read it won’t work with 20” wheels. I DO have that. The question is would the spare work to get me to a safe area or gas station or would that damage the car? Hope not to have to return it but not looking to change my wheels.

Yes. The spare doesn’t care what diameter your wheel is……..

I would not use it long term, the diameter of the spare vs a 20” wheel might be a problem in time for your rear differential.

Your spare should work with the your 20" wheels if paired with the factory size tire which is 265/35r20. Your wheel and tire combo should measure around 27.3" which is the same as the standard 18" wheel and tire combo. I don't see why it wouldn't work.
