So I purchased my car from the dealer. As I was driving home, I noticed a smudge on the mirror. I did't think much of it. Then I got home and tried to clean it with a cloth meant for glasses and some Windex. It won't come off. I think this might be some oil or grease from a mechanic that had to wash my car down and pull my car around for me. I remember him saying sorry my hands are dirty. Anyway...any ideas how to get this off? There's definitely something on the mirror.

Yeah I tried Goo Gone and let it sit for several minutes and it didn't do much of anything. That pic was taken after I tried the Goo Gone and it basically looks the same.

Maybe take it to a detail shop and see if they can steam it off. Or take it back to the dealership and make them clean it off for you.
If goo gone didnt help, im not sure what would tbh

They left it on there because they couldn't get it off either.

You will probably have to go to something stronger than a simple spray on and wipe off. Maybe a flat razor blade and lots of lubrication so you don't scratch the mirror.

It might even have to be replaced.

Spray with glass cleaner and use a razor blade to gently scrape it off. As long as you maintain a close angle and use enough glass cleaner no worries about scratching.

I hope not...cause I haven't had a chance to "break the car in" yet myself. Wouldn't be right if someone else got to it before me. :)

I picked up some cheap razor blades tonight and put some more Goo Gone on it. I then used the razor and the stuff came right off. Thanks for the suggestion. Looks good as new.

Good to see you got rid of it. Any idea what it was?

Glad to see you got it off. Definitely probably on the mechanic's hands as he grabbed the mirror to adjust it.

Honestly I have no clue what it was but is was baked on there pretty good. It looks perfect now though. This morning when I went out to the car in the sunlight...you can't see it at all...and there are no scratches or anything from the razor. It looks perfect.
