Hi kapiteinlangzaam,

The US and UK software versions differ, which is why we refer International customers to speak to their local Customer Relationship Center.

Cara
Correct, SYNC 2 has localised versions for the US, EU/GB, E Europe, Asia etc etc.

However where you are still wrong is the reasoning as to why the US portal asks for a US Zip code. This is purely for marketing/tracking purposes as the portal attempts to 'link' your profile to the local dealer for servicing and sales etc. Its literally a pointless hoop to jump through.

The actual S/W is linked to the VIN code of your car, so as long as you input the correct VIN code, you will have no problems. For example, in the EURO section of this very forum we were distributing copies of the latest SW between ourselves nearly 8 months ago, as one member who had received an early car delivery and was able to get access to the US portal and download the software. His EU VIN only gave him access to the EU software.

The bigger question is (ONCE AGAIN) why are Ford making zero effort to support owners outside of the US with such things. The dealers and customer service centers are clueless.

If anyone on here would like a copy of the latest SYNC2 SW (3.8.15128) send me a PM and I will give you access to the files I have stored on my Google Drive.

Please ignore the info written above by the Ford rep. Although I am sure they mean well, they are (bluntly) wrong.

As stated before, I can only troubleshoot SYNC related inquiries that are US based. Any questions outside of the US must inquire with their local CRC because the build of the vehicles and software info are different than the ones here. If you would like to voice your opinion of your dissatisfaction with your local CRC, please feel free to at http://social.ford.com Have a great day!

Thanks Cara. We appreciate your help.
Unfortunately we do not have "Customer Relationship Centers" in the UK; because there is no customer relationship with Ford. We have dealers. Think "drug dealer" and you'll understand the relationship.
Have a good day. :)

Well in that case
Sync 3, other than updating over wifi, can you download the update onto a USB stick and update?
As my wifi is in the house, and the car don't fit in the lounge, more's the pity.
:)
and as you will see I have a Canadian Spec California Special, so local Ford dealers won't be of much help
thanks

Hey goldengooner,

Manders Mustang is correct in stating that you can update with a USB; be sure it's formatted to FAT32 before saving the files. :)

slowhand99,

LOL! If there isn't a CRC in the UK, you can look for the closest one near you for troubleshooting.

slowhand99 we have a CRC in the UK , it's [email protected] or you can call them - but email may be quicker who knows. Think Karen and Stacey come under that heading too.

But the irony is customer relationship between us and dealer is pretty shoddy, and that's being polite.

But it seems the CRC is only reactive in developing a "customer relationship"(sic). Maybe DLC (Damage Limitation Centre) would be a more appropriate name.
