I was going through the dealer product guide, and noticed that if you upgrade to the premium MyFord-Touch package with the touch screen etc, you lose Sync AppLink?

Not exactly sure the capabilities or the practicality of the technology yet, but why do we lose that feature?

No idea, but it's always been that way with MFT. I tested it out on my Wife's 2013 Escape and there's simply no option for AppLink. It's extremely ridiculous if you ask me.

I have AppLink in my Raptor and I can say with 100% certainty I don't see an issue with not having it. In my mom's 2013 FX2 the song information displays the same way that it would if I was using Pandora through applink. I don't even hardly listen to Pandora in my truck with having a USB key always plugged in. Haven't used anything other than Pandora though so can't say anything about them.

I dont know why Ford continues with this crap? I thought for sure for 2015 MY they would finally allow AppLink with MFT. But guess not. You pay for the upgraded system and you lose some functionalities.

The reason it's not available YET is because they are updating all Sync systems prior to MFT so those "legacy" customers are not left behind. It's actually a pretty amazing thing to see. A company actually caring to keep older cars up top date with new features. GM or Dodge would say too bad you need to trade up.

I know this is an old thread but for the sake of updating ppl with the most up to date info...

Since early this year it has been known that Ford is making a big upgrade to MFT that is ditching some of the Microsoft backing for a QNX based system:
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-...berry-s-qnx-for-microsoft-in-sync-system.html

According to this article on the 2015 Edge, the new system will not be out by the time the Edge is released, but it can be loaded on the car when it's eventually released:
http://www.caranddriver.com/news/2015-ford-edge-official-photos-and-info-news

I am making an educated guess in saying that they are avoiding making significant changes to MFT given that the underlying software is about to change, meaning things like Applink will be delayed until the new OS. On the other hand, unless the new '15 Edge has different MFT hardware, current MFT users should be able to upgrade to the QNX system. Given that Ford is plugging away at giving the standard Sync users Applink support, I have a feeling they won't leave us out either with the new system.

*If they do I will personally never invest in or recommend MFT and im sure others would follow*

Finally I found this article on the '15 Focus, which will debut MFT in Europe and call it 'SYNC 2'.

The article mentions that 'SYNC 2'/MFT will have Applink support but I have yet to find another article that confirms applink with it, so consider that a typo IMO

Regardless what their future plans are, we would really like an update to MFT to support AppLink. I think voicing this here would help show Ford how many would support this update.

So does this mean us new 2015 Mustang owners will be able to upgrade to the new QNX system?

Man I hope so. Just picked up my car yesterday and only disappointment is that there is no app support for Pandora on the "Premium" stereo.
