I love this from the article:

"The new second generation 3.5-liter EcoBoost gets a dual-direct and port fuel-injection system, meaning there’s an injector in the cylinder and one just on the other side of the intake valve in the intake port. Ford says this allows for better power, efficiency, emissions and cold-start capability."

Translation to those of us in the know: Ford really says we don't have a good solution for dirty intake valves in our Ecoboost engines and this should solve it :thumbsup:

As for me? I'm going with the "Italian Tune-Up" hypothesis on my dead stock engine :cool: (Seems to be the going theme on Youtube amongst Ecoboost mechanics...). Time will tell if I'm right. Once the powertrain warranty is up, I'm hoping someone has an auxiliary injector kit ready to go ;)

There's already auxiliary injector kits out on the market now.

Yup like 3 that I know of two full kits and a build your own kind of setup (boomba)

The PI/DI hybrid is the only real way to prevent carbon coking on the valves....otherwise it's walnut blasting every 20,000-25,000 miles.
