New strut leaking?

Just got the ford performance track struts and shocks. One strut appeared to be leaking in the box. I took it out and saw some oil on the strut. Cleaned it up and cucled the strut by hand a few times and seems to be oozing a tad from the cap. Not normal i assume?

better now than after installation. I had a strut pop, and had to take all off and install a new one again, and another alignment.

Yeah the seal looks torn, is that a hole I see in the box or oil stain? If yes that's shipping damage punctured the box took the seal out . Let the folks you purchased it from see that.

Means the damage probably happened before it was shipped. If the damaged box didn't look like it was badly damaged or showing any external evidence of leakage it's entirely possible for the person picking that box out of stock to have assumed that everything inside was still OK. Poo happens sometimes.
