I love coming here checking out the new mods and upgrades on your cars and it makes my want level go through the roof. I've spec'd my car and sent it to my dealership who gave me a great price on a 2016 GT, the only problem is I can't put the order in until I sell my current car. Who knew selling a 2006 V6 mustang was going to be so tough. I could trade it in but I don't want to take a loss being this car is so clean with low miles. It only has 78k miles and it is still an extremely well kept and clean car, no accidents, clean title, etc. The only reason I don't trade it in is I want to use the money I get from the car as my down payment and save my current money for mods but this is taking too long to sell and I'm running out of patience! So for now I'll just continue to drool over all of your mustangs :headbonk::thumbsup:

Sorry if you already know about this, but in NY your trade in will offset the sales tax. Meaning if the new car is 20K, and your trade in is 9K, you only pay sales tax on 11K. Again, I apologize if you already knew that, but just making sure. I traded in my Jeep and got 7K, but with the sales tax it really saved me 7.5 Good luck either way!

How much are you trying to get for it, and how much is the difference for the trade? I hate to break it to you, but a 06 V6 is not going to be a highly desired car, and it's going to take you a while to do the sale yourself. Forgo the hassle, and do the trade, my $0.02

Do the trade. Just know your bottom dollar on the trade and what you want to pay on the Mustang. You can try to do it separate but most dealers are going to lump it all together. Just take your time and NEGOTIATE. As others have said there are sales tax advantages when doing a trade.

Trade it! And be done with it. I guarantee you won't look back especially with the tax advantage. Going from an old V6 to a new V8 will make it go even further in the back of your mind...

I wondered if you were patient a little longer, then you could time your order so as to take advantage of year-end rebate sales. Gives you more time to try to sell your car, too.

Say you place your order on the year-end sale. Get the dealer to lock in your rebate. Ford builds the car during snow season anyway. More time to save for that expensive Day One.

If you order now, you'll get to drive the car about a month before parking it. Might as well 1) wait for year-end sales, 2) year-end rebates, and 3) springtime so as to save up more.

Just a thought.
