New to the forum, thought I'd share my experience with my new Mustang. Despite a thorough pre-delivery inspection I have brought the car back to the dealership with the following squawks:
1) Paint blemish on front quarter panel
2) Rear bumper sag / alignment / gaps
3) Shifter vibration when in neutral
4) Drive train clatter / clunk when clutch is pushed in while pulling forward in 1st gear (sometimes second gear as well)
5) Drive train or exhaust clatter when engine is shut off
6) Seat back rests do not cool (driver and passenger)
7) Transmission “thud” when putting into first from neutral
Dealer fixed #1 and stated that all others are normal. I guess I'd feel better if they said "typical" and indicated there was some chance of a resolution in the future... I am aware of the fact that some of these are in fact "known" issues and may be actively being worked - but it still is disappointing to have these issues in a brand new car. I'm especially concerned about #4 and #5 - I'm almost embarrassed to drive my new $30K car because of these.
My 1999 SVT Contour seemingly had much more refinement than this latest generation Mustang. I was not expecting that!
I called Ford Customer Care and opened a case, but frankly I'm not very hopeful to come to any resolution. I'm sorta disapointed - and that is a sick feeling after a new car purchase.
