Lol ok. We're talking US here hence the price conversion. Otherwise why would I care what the US price is?

Price matters to 99.9% of consumers, with exception of the super wealthy. It's not purchasing power based on other compacts, while the other side of the mouth says it runs with a GT. That's just misdirection talk. We get cars are marked up there, like Mustangs, but that's not true everywhere.
I was mentioning it because I'm British and the article was looking at European prices. You said it was over $40,000 when all you did was convert the price without actually looking at the US price (its $36k BTW) and then compared that to the domestic US price for the Mustang.

Yes and a mustang here start at $33k, $3k cheaper. It makes no sense unless you want a compact racer.

Subarus aren't performance cars. They're trendy happy-go-lucky mobiles in which Earth is good and you're a fun loving family member who does all imaginable outdoor hobbies that require a rack or vehicle-mounted carrier. Haven't you seen the commercials?

You can ignore my earlier post but it doesn't make you correct.

First of all the focus RS is geared to a totally different demograph then the mustang is. Here in the northeast most people do not cross shop the STi, EVO, Golf R, S3, with the Mustang GT. For people that can only have 1 car in the north east the mustang is just not practical at all being a RWD 2 door coupe. I don't think the two are really comparable in my opinion. Very different cars for different markets. (I had a Mk6 Golf R before I got my mustang).

Well...

I own a rarer BMW because I like the size and feel. It was $51k and needs moAr to compete openly at that price range. The handling is phenomenal, the size is perfect the brakes are outstanding, etc..

But for what I paid, it does not stack up with others costing less. I am cross shopping a new Vette, GT350, M2 and the Focus RS.

I could care less about Subaru, or EVo, etc.
Those "rice burners" have never been on my radar, even though I wanted BMW to import their hatch 4~5 years ago. Because hatchbacks are so god damn utilitarian it makes them an easy buy.

I am looking for a track car I can get to learn over the many years and use on the streets whenever it suits me. I have a brand new Ford Edge Sport as a daily, but an awd hatch is super inviting idea, specially when you can take that HP with you camping, or traveling, etc.

Performance wise, nothing this side of a GT350 will touch a properly tuned Focus RS on the streets. It is a steal of the century.
