For you guys who have taken delivery, are the eta delivery dates on ford tracking once your car is in production lining up with when your dealer is getting them? Just curious.

If so, then I'm going to go ahead and schedule my ppf, ceramic, and tint since my guy is 3-4 weeks out on availability at the moment. If not, then I'll just wait till car is physically delivered.
Mine was a couple weeks late from my original date. I am glad I left a 3 week gap when I scheduled my PPF. I picked it up last Friday and it goes in this Friday. I read somewhere that they were holding some of the first builds before shipment so now that things are moving maybe yours will show up on time!

Well this just sucks! Got a message from my salesman, as they were doing PDI on the car they found this on the passenger side fender. Says it looks like they tried to fix it because it was cleared over. Also said some minor scratches in the same area. UGH.... I really want it but not sure I want a car that has to be repainted before I even pick it up.

Yes, this does suck! I am fairly sure that a good detail shop can paint correct this under warranty. Repainting is the last thing you want to do. I had excellent success with a similar issue.

Have your dealership consult with a detail shop they regularly use, not a paint shop who will likely recommend against paint if at all possible. It is impressive what a quality detail shop can do.

I'm going to see what the option are but what they are saying is it looks like it was touched up and then cleared. Not sure a detail shop can do anything about that but who knows, I could be wrong. My thinking is that since they put clear coat over it they would have to remove that just to get to the area. Even at that point I'm not sure they could do much since it was touched up.

While I do understand it's still a Mustang and quality isn't as good as it could be it still amazes me they would send it out like this. Do they really think a Shelby buyer would be okay with this? I guess now I know why it took so long to go from built to ready to ship lol.

Woot Woot! My car originally scheduled for production for the week of 4/5 just hit Production! So awesome to see them ahead of schedule.

Does anyone know if Ford ships via rail or truck when delivering upstate New York?
I live in Watertown. Mine was shipped rail to Albany and truck from there. It only sat in railyard 1 day .

I totally agree; how could this leave the factory like that. What kind of quality control is that!!!
I don't know how a detail shop could fix that.

Man @biscuit60177 - this makes my heart sink. I hope you find a remedy... Ugh - I can't imagine what I would do - I already traded in the freakin trade in! Talk about over a barrel for me! I think tho - I'd probably walk if it didn't get to looking better than that!

I just picked mine up last Friday and after having a chance to drive it.....these cars are amazing. While we all want, expect and deserve perfection it unfortunately is like trying to find a unicorn.
Unless you are buying the car as a potential long term investment and it is just going to sit in storage, I would not walk away from it. Have it repainted if need be and get behind the wheel and enjoy it! Chances are you will be the only one who knows that it was fixed and I doubt that when you're pinned back in the seat and that thing is flat out screaming that you will wish you had not taken the car!!!
That said....it sucks that the car was allowed to leave the factory like that. Best of luck.

I really feel for you, worst case scenario. Idk, can't you send emails to Ford, maybe starting with the 2 guys at Ford Performance, listed on this site, and see what they can do for you. In my book, this is just not acceptable. I would demand new factory painted panels be sent from Ford to the dealer, to replace the defective ones, (to me it appears it is the hood as well as the fender). Unless you got the existing panels stripped and repainted by a high quality paint shop, you're never going to match the factory paint job. It seems it would be cheaper for Ford to send new painted panels than to pay for that and send them the old ones and they can strip and re use. My 2 cents worth, if it was mine.

Just talked to the dealership about it, going to see if Ford will free up an allocation and fast track it. If not I can walk away, have it repaired or take it as is. Ugh.... not the best options for M00121....

@biscuit60177 - man - good luck - I so feel for you (and now MY car is on the line longer than the expected build date - so now I'm picturing the same sort of thing upon delivery)

It always amazes me when stuff like this happens - us "normal folk" are like "just paint a new panel and send it"... and the manufacturers are all like "ohh no - we can't do that - our hands are tied" - like they haven't been building and shipping cars with issues ever before in the history of cars and the concept of sending a part to fix a delivery is like aliens have landed to them!
