Have a 2020 base 350 on order may be changing to a HE (waiting on dealer to get back to me with answers) Whichever car I end up with. The question will be the same. I'm thinking about replacing the Michelin cup 2s with Michelin sport 4s in 295/30/19 on the front and 305/30/19 rear. Know that this is a small step down in aspect ratio of about 1/2" total in height. I'm not going to track the car no where close here in Wyoming to do so. So I'm think the 4s will fit my needs much better. Daily driver spirited mountain driving etc and of course better wet weather driveability is a must. I'm looking for feed back from you gents that may have made this change. Pros/cons etc. Also what are the cup 2s worth ? Will most likely buy the 4s before the car gets here and change at dealer before delivery.

Hello fellow cowboy. I am a part time Wyoming resident....also a Seattle resident.
I swapped out the Cup 2 tires on my 2019 GT350R (KR039) before I took delivery. I put Michelin Sport 4S on. 305 30 19 on the front and 325 30 19 on the back. I had 4S tires on my Cayman R and they were great in the rain and a good track and driving tire. I bought my GT350R from a dealer in Indiana and drove it back to Seattle. Had all kinds of weather driving back last June. Hard rain, snow (in Montana) and hot weather all during the trip. Tires performed great. Now have about 2,300 miles on them and are like new. I sold my Cup 2 unused tires on this site for $900.00 net of shipping. Enjoy!!

I'd try to keep that aspect ratio closer to stock on a street car.
So in your opinion the 1/2" less in tire diameter will adversely affect the car in ways other than lowering it ? The 4s is not available in a 305/35 so that's why the drop to 30 on both front and back.

It's not just about ride height.

The stock SC2's - which the suspension and ABS have been tweaked for - have a load rating of 104Y up front and a 106Y in the rear.

Those 4S's in the sizes you're looking at give you 100Y and 102Y respectively.

You could go 295/35R19 with the 4S in all four corners and be at 104Y.

Hopefully Michelin will step up to the plate soon and give us the 4S in 305/35R19.

YMMV.

My tire size works fine. No issues at all

The Base is 295/35R19 & 305/35R19.

The R is 305/30R19 and 315/30R19.
Aaahhhh, the R is different !! I thought I was loosing my mind.

So going down to the 295/30R19 (100y) is a 220lb drop in load rating under the stock 295/35R19 (104y) on the front.

Also on the rear there would be a 110lb drop in load rating 305/30R19 (104y) vs stock 305/35R19 (106y)

My question is is there really going to be that big of a difference in handling based on that load rating difference? The 350R's run a 30 aspect ratio and I understand that there is a weight difference in the two cars but it's not that big of a difference.

Or am I missing something.

LOL! Nope!

Lot's of little differences - like the wheels - 10.5x19 & 11x19 in the Base and 11x19 and 11.5x19 in the R - not to mention the offsets!

Actually the 305/30R19 is a (102Y) so you have the same 220lb drop in the rear also.

No, I don't think there will be a huge handling difference, I was just basing my advice on your original daily driver/spirited mountain road scenario.

Several folks on here who have actually switched to the 30 series reported a drop in ride height of close to an inch.

I'm not sure what the roads are like where you live, but I find myself cutting driveways and side streets at a 45 degree angle to keep the splitter from digging in.

I couldn't imagine my car sitting any lower.

They already make the 4S in 295/35R19 - by the time your car gets close to delivery we might get a 305/35R19 as a replacement to the Super Sport.
