I have this rubbing sound that happens when I let go of the gas, it seems to come from the front passenger side. At first, I thought it was my bigger wheels rubbing, but I swapped to my OEM wheels and the sound still remained. Wheels properly torqued and everything. I thought I heard something about a week ago when a made a turn but didn't think much of it, and I guess it just got progressively worse today. Also, sometimes if I listen carefully I can slightly hear what sounds like a slight scraping/disc sliding sound. Could it be my bearings going bad? I hope it's not something major haha.

Here is a video of the sound:

Any ideas?

Update: I revved the engine in park and it made the noise, so that probably rules out being a wheel issue..

Sounds like something vibrating. Can you make the sound happen by just reving the engine up and down in neutral? If so, have someone listen for the sound source while you rev up and down.

That's what I thought so too, but the sound comes after driving for a bit. When I first start and drive the first 5 minutes is perfectly fine.

Here's a video of me revving parked:

It seems to happen when I let off the gas and it climbs down to right about 2K RPMs and sounds like it comes right by the passenger footwell/near the center.
It still drives like normal, it just makes that obnoxious sound when I let off the gas like something's disengaged and rubbing because when I turn there's a faint sound that I can describe as like 2 metal discs sliding against each other making a scraping sound. The sound disappears when I get on the gas.

So your latest video shows that the sound is there when revving the engine up and down without the car moving, so it's not related to the car moving (ie, bearings, etc).

It could be the exhaust system (after it gets hot) or something else rattling that gets excited and resonates as the engine revs fall past 2000 RPM.

What if you just hold and feather the engine RPM right around 2000 RPM in neutral? You need a helper to listen for the source as you make the noise appear.

Here's a video of me holding it at 2K RPM:

It sounds like it's coming from right under the center console or around there. I'm scheduled to go to the dealer on Monday. And if worst comes to worst, I still have powertrain warranty but its still just annoying. :lipssealed:

Yeah, sounds like something in the dash getting excited and rattling due to the engine vibrations at around 2000 RPM. If that's the case, then it probably won't be a powertrain warranty issue. Good with the dealer, and let us know what they find.

Did you have someone snoop around under the hood while you held the revs at 2000 RPM to see if it might be something rattling inside the engine compartment and transmitting through the firewall?
