The reasons cars don't have your settings saved by default is govt regulations and emissions mostly. By defaulting to normal mode they can claim their cars pollute at a certain level, get certain mileage, etc.

I have had modern Mercedes, BMW and Fords, and none have let you for example have "sport mode" active as soon as you turn the car on. You always have to toggle.

Just to make sure we all on the same page, there are two concepts being discussed in this thread by various contributors. The first is whether or not a car will start up in MyMode. I agree that the car will not start in MyMode and that there are probably good reasons for that. Thus, every time you want to use MyMode, you have to toggle to it. I don’t have a problem with that. The second is that when you go to all of the effort of creating and saving a particular setting in MyMode, the car should remember that custom setting so that when you toggle to MyMode after starting your car, the MyMode should have remembered your custom setting. This is the problem I’m complaining about. That is, when I toggle through to MyMode, it has forgotten my custom saved settings. There is no point in using MyMode if it can’t remember the custom settings.

Two possibilities: your MyMode is malfunctioning or you have not taken the correct steps to save your settings, as that’s not supposed to happen.

I really doubt there's anything wrong with MyMode. In addition to taking the correct steps to store a setting (once car is running), you also need to take the correct steps when RECALLING MyMode. And I think THAT is your issue. Once your setting is stored, only recall MyMode AFTER ENGINE IS RUNNING. Try that last step, and it should be there. Oh, as a final thought, there are some settings that are not allowed, so once stored, get out of the menu, and go thru the drive modes again until you get to MyMode. If the changes are there, they should remain stored if you recall it as described above. If not, something might not be allowed. Hope this helps.

How about this idea, to help determine if I’m doing something wrong (and/or possibly to determine if my car software is malfunctioning, and/or to show that the Wet/Snow is not allowed to be a saved choice in MyMode) — is there anyone out there (who is successfully using MyMode) who is willing to try an experiment and is willing try to save the Wet/Snow as part of their MyMode? If so, can you try the experiment and report back to the forum? Thanks in advance.

You need to change something; otherwise it's just that mode. What else did you change on that mode? If anything, that's your 'problem' right there. MyMode implies you're changing at least one parameter of one of the modes.

I changed the drive mode to Wet/Snow I kept the steering at “normal”. The display shows those settings when I press “OK to save”. If I then switch to, let’s say, Track Mode, and then cycle through the various modes back to MyMode the MyMode shows (has kept) the Wet/Snow and Normal. The next time I start the car (same day or different day) and I cycle through to MyMode, the Wet/Snow is unsaved. The drive is back to Normal. I am hoping To find someone who has successfully been able to save Wet/snow in their MyMode settings.

Good News - it works. After parking the car for a week, I fired it up, selected MyMode and my Snow/Wet drive mode with Normal steering were saved. I'll chalk it up to user error code ID10T and have a slice of humble pie. The only thing I can think of that I was missing is that I was mis-counting the MyMode lever clicks. Oh well, at least it works.

Yeah, if you try to switch too early after firing up the engine, it might not take it. It happens to me often. Glad there's nothing wrong with your car.
