For #1 they are talking only about what to do if the battery dies in the fob. Take the battery out of your key fob and see what happens if you just keep it in your pocket. Car won't start. But even with a dead battery, if you place the key in the slot below the cup holder the car will start.Seriously
1. Is not really true, can keep the key in your pocket and the car will start up from the button, its always in my pocket or in the cup holder
As for battery life, I try to use both keys
1 for actual driving with a fancy keyring and the other when cleaning and mucking about in the car.
2. That Blade key is a 100% Nightmare, to get the plastic bit off takes ages, and to get purchase on the blade key is very tough and nearly impossible in the cold. The glovebox key can be used to turn the lock, which makes it a lot easier, once you finally get the plastic off, and you are cursing that little bit of plastic
But you need to get into the car to place it below the cup holder, So if you have a dead battery, you need the blade key or glove-box key to get into the car.
