Went into production yesterday...got the window sticker today...EDD slipped again to 3 January (from 28 November)

well i ordered back in may the first time only to find out by sept that my car got turned into a truck so i had to redo the order that was sad lol

Some peoples orders had VINS that were the same as trucks I believe..or it was just a glitch in COTUS?

Either way, when they went to track their car on COTUS, the image that popped up was an F250 , not a Mustang :shrug:

I have a theory as to what is going on with the pushbacks (now this is only a theory, so I may be totally off base, but it makes sense to me). I read somewhere that COTUS calculates your estimated delivery date based off of your current point in the process and how long past orders have taken once they get to that point. For example, once you get to "In Production" it takes, on average, say 30 days for the car to be delivered (pulled that number at of my ass, but you get the drift). Once you get to "In Transit" you're down to 15 days on average (again, a made up number for the purpose of the example).

Here's where my theory comes in: there are a number of early orders stuck somewhere in the process that are messing up the averages. I got this idea looking at my dealer's online inventory. They have a GT premium on order that completed "In Production" on 9/24/14 and is still "Awaiting Shipment." (VIN: 1FA6P8CF8F5301363 if you want to look it up) I suspect what is going on is that there is some issue with a number of early dealer stock orders that got built but never sent out. Whether these orders will ever be shipped is a mystery, but they have a VIN and are still being tracked by COTUS. They are stuck in "Awaiting Shipment" and so are driving up the EDD for everyone at that stage or sooner. That's why once people get to the "In Transit" stage they are seeing their EDD drop back to something more reasonable.

Again, this is all a theory and is based on how I think COTUS works and what I've inferred from reading people's experiences here on the forums. There is a good chance I'm wrong, but I think it does explain some of the weirdness we're seeing with people's EDDs jumping up then coming back down.

now that the 11th has come to pass, there is no EDD. Had everything all set, dealer had me come in last week to get all the paperwork in order & now nothing. I just got off the phone with Ford & they have no answers at this point.

my car was in production 10/28 & its been complete for well over a week. ordered 5/28
EB PP 50th addition. Oh & my dealer is less then 10 miles from Flat Rock

Good theory and might even be plausible as the fine folks from Ford Service said that they have seen a pattern that once the vehicle moves into production that they have been pretty much running original delivery times give or take a day or two (but even they are at a loss as to why such EDD discrepancies showing up on COTUS) :frusty:
