I am getting some drag radials for my 2018 A10 an will be using 17 X 9 rims. I am torn between ET street Rs in 275/40-17 and M & H Racemaster 275/50-17. The MTs would are 26.1 tall vs. the M & H which are 27.8. I am thinking the MTs, being a bit smaller around, would provide me a bit more effective gearing. They are also less expensive and lighter in weight. However, the 50 series M & H would have a larger footprint and might provide better traction. I will be getting a tune but that will be the extent of my engine mods.

Opinions please!!

Even if you have the 3.55, I'd stick with the MT's. That's almost 2" taller for the M&H. They are both 275's so the footprint should be the same. You're only getting more sidewall with the M&H. I know they could be a pinch wider with lower psi, but I think you'd be better off with the shorter tire (not to mention probably a little weight savings too).

Thanks Silver. That is exactly what I was thinking. MT ET street Rs have a very good reputation, too. The effective gearing with my 3.55 will be 3.70 but it should still just use the first 6 gears of the 10 speed automatic in the quarter.
