ive always been fond of engines made by bavarian motor works, but they need to up it a little if they want to keep their customers.

i know a ton of bimmer guys already jumped ship for the S550, and i'm sure this test/comparison is not helping them out at all.

i'm really happy for GM and the camaro. Any time an American car can perform just as well at half the cost or less, and embarrass the german cars is a win in my book. The m4 is beautiful, but the camaro will be much more reliable and cheaper to own long term. Good for it. A few bolt-ons and the S550 will be right there with them on the track.
Nailed it. Never bought into the ultimate driving machine nonsense.

Camaro delivering the performance we all wished ford had with the s550. Ford talked, GM delivered. Oh well, at least our cars look better.

The foundation and framework of this car was largely hindered by the recession. The S197 had a very long model run, delayed the S550, an IRS, and the resources for polishing the suspension and getting the massive weight savings this car needed.

This model is by far and large a big improvement from the last generation, just not in speed. Ford delivered on the chassis, handling, styling, space, comfort, ergonomics, and fit and finish (to some degree haha). There were definitely weight savings but they were just negated by the IRS.

Yes, the Camaro is hands down a more potent performance car and that counts for a lot, but the bowtie literally just ransacked Cadillac for the platform (weight) and some other components. Unfortunately Lincoln doesn't have any hand-me-downs to offer. An equivalent 2016 Camaro to the S550 would be a modified version of the old Holden platform, not the stellar ATS bones. Mustang would SMASH that car. Still, props to chevy, although its ugly and visibility sucks!
