None of that article matters...The BMW is art and the Camaro although has a great low tech OHV engine it still looks like DONKEY!

Not to mention the COTY Bias they evidently had.

i'm really happy for GM and the camaro. Any time an American car can perform just as well at half the cost or less, and embarrass the german cars is a win in my book. The m4 is beautiful, but the camaro will be much more reliable and cheaper to own long term. Good for it. A few bolt-ons and the S550 will be right there with them on the track.

GM went for the kill when it comes to performance. Hopefully Ford will have something to respond with soon outside of just special edition models like the GT350. Only reason to buy a M4 over the SS is because you want the BMW name.

But....the camaro DIDNT beat the M4. The camaro did .1 seconds faster to 60 and 1/4mile with a Slower trap speed. And the M4 was .2 seconds faster around a track despite being the weaker engine supposedly. By no means does MT saying they prefer the camaro make it a winner. Chevy wins alot of magazine editors hearts but sales will disagree time and time again.

The magazine even hints that the BMW chassis is better.

When you buy a BMW you're not paying 30k extra to go 2 tenths of a second faster. You're paying to be in a different class altogether. A camaros quality will not be anywhere near what BMW is. Ya the new interior is a huge change in the right direction but it's still no BMW. BMW has been a leading luxury segment for a very long time. And tbh comparing the two cars isn't fair at all because the price point is much different. They just so happen to perform similarly.

i understand completely what it means to pay for the BMW badge. my first 7 cars were bimmers, from 1999-2011, until i figured out that luxury is not important to me at all.

it's how i ended up with a WRX, then a mustang. best bang for buck performance is way more important to me these days.

The bmw is severely underrated engine wise. I've seen multiple stock dynos at ~420whp and 410 wtq.

Nice numbers for the Camaro. The 1LE should destroy the M4 on the track if it's already that close.
