Does it do that? I've mis-spaced a plate in the past but got fed up changing them for MOTs so don't bother any more.
I'm not 100% sure to be honest. I suppose it depends on your policy, but I imagine there will be something in the small print about deliberately breaking the law etc. Whether in practice, your insurance company will refuse to pay out is another thing. Technically, if it did violate your policy terms would you also be driving without insurance?!

It's also a bit inconsistent when the government keeps back and then sells plates for a huge premium because they look like a word and then complains if you alter the spacing slightly to spell it out. After paying the money, it would be nice to have the plate read as 'stang' rather than a 'staaaang'.

I know this is not for everyone but thought I would mention...there are a lot of DVLA plates available in the style of **57ANG @ ÂŁ800/ÂŁ900
And no, GT 57ANG is not available to save you looking. I already have a plate with my initials on it which I love but thought this for the Ecoboost would be pretty cool;
I know what license plate I am not buying

I'm tempted to buy "MU57BEN" (Mustang + my first name) now and leave it in the garage until my car comes.

If I wanted my name or similar on my car I'd have a nice vinyl graphic or similar in a font and finish of my choice. All spelled correctly and spaced as I desire and applied wherever I wanted and at the fraction of the cost of a 'cherished number'

However, I don't really have a desire to have my name on my car, so I probably won't! - just a thought if anyone did?

Thinking ahead again chaps to "detailing". I'm keen on using polish & wax etc to protect the paint & keep it looking fresh but my knowledge is limited - I will just buy whatever is on offer at halfords lol, got turtle wax coloured polish/wax stuff that's pretty good but probably not a premium product.

The mustang will be a metallic grey so I'm guessing a coloured polish will not be necessary? From my little knowledge, you wax often & polish maybe once or twice a year.

Can anyone out there recommend any specific brands or products that will be a good investment? Got a budget of probably up to ÂŁ100 to get everything, all the products/tools etc. Any suggestions appreciated! Still trying to find out what a clay bar is :)

My Mondeo is magnetic as it happens (and my Mustang will be Race Red). I tend to stick with Autoglym products as they do what they say they do and plenty of detailing companies use them. All the quality brands are good though. If you want to get started on the clay, they do a starter kit for that for about ÂŁ30 [ame] . My best investments so far are a stack of microfibre towels (Amazon) particularly for drying after washing and for finishing after waxing/polishing, good microfibre mit and microfiber wheel mop. The towels also lift dust in the interior (where your best fried in the vacuum with the little round brush attachment which will get all the dust off the dash without scratching and lift it out of the seams in the leather seats). The towels go in the washing machine when you've done.

There are some good videos on you tube on techniques. [ame]
I haven't gone as far as a leaf blower but I do use rainwater from a water butt rather than tap water which seems to give a better result (also means I can use my pressure washer when there is a hosepipe ban). Key to a brilliant finish for me is getting wheels and glass spotless.

I like using dodo juice wax for the car. Nice and simple to put on and take off. Zymol is also good.

Try checking out cleanyourcar.co.uk they sell most of the different brands.

Also Costco do two packs of microfibre for about ÂŁ30 which is enough to keep you going for a while.

If you wanna stick with something in a lower price range then Autoglym has always worked well for me on fords. Both super resin polish then a coat of liquid hard wax.

Just down to personal preference.

I've purchased the stuff in this thread, it's pricey but it's talked up well,

http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23912&highlight=Sovereign

Kristian, you're going to have to up your budget mate, hopefully not teaching my granny how to suck eggs but there are a few fundamental basics, start buying now.

1. Get a power washer and a quality snow foam lance, these are essential. You want not to be touching the car as much as possible.

2. A good quality lambs wool mitt, never, ever use a sponge (and don't ever use a chamois to dry off the car.

3. Claying is a must, look into what's on offer, it'll while away those days and weeks until you get the car.

4. Most recommend the 'two bucket with grit guard' method. Personally I've found that once you've jet washed, snow foamed and then jet washed again, there'll be no grit left on the car. I then use a dilution of a good quality conditioning shampoo through the snow foam lance and cover the car completely in suds. Then use the lambs wool mitt to 'wash', rinsing often and thoroughly.

5. Use Microfibre drying towels, proper drying towels are as thick as your bath towel. Don't wipe the water off, dab it with the towel.

Steps 1,2,4 and 5 are basic wash n dry.

I've not even went through the clay barring procedure, polish, sealant or wax!!

Then there's wheel wax and sealant, you are literally talking a couple of hundred quid, more when you include the jet wash, foam lance, not to mention a porter cable (buff). Then there's wax application pads, Microfibre cloths, tyre dressing, plastic trim cleaner, internal trim cleaner, glass cleaner, the list goes on and on.

Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES, use any 'colour' polishes!! They're abrasive, you might as well use a Brillo pad in all honesty.

It's worth the time and investment.

That's what I'm talking about! That's some serious advice - thanks :) will keep me occupied probably until I get my build date!

I think I bought that polish/wax when I was in my early 20's lol & used it on my previous car (black as well), only after looking up the purpose of polish and wax did I find out that it was't ideal. It will do though to spruce up my car before I sell it.

Wouldn't let anyone near my car with a sponge lol, I know that much! Looking forward to giving it a that first clean :)

Hmm, car shampoo, rinse, dry, drive...

I might get a bit more involved with the Stang but it won't become an obsession :)

Said I wasn't going to buy anything until I got my car,
BUT
Set of red rear lights on way from USA, and a gear knob, couldn't resist.
Unbelievable, lights took 2 days to get from USA to UK, been stuck in customs for 4 days. Now saying awaiting customs charging.

I've got a big box of parts purchased up front to fit once my car turns up :headbang:

US Spec GT Decklid
US Spec Red Rear Lights - provisionally sold
GT Lower Grill with fangs - provisionally sold
Ford Racing Engine Strut Brace Kit
I may be selling up all the Mustang parts I have as I've found an AM DBS that I'm considering. I know it's not the for sale thread here, but if anyone is interested in the bits I have then drop me a PM and an offer. I'm off to test drive the Aston on Sunday so I'll know for certain come Monday.

The US door mirrors and Ford Racing exhaust are already promised to someone else so that's why I've removed them from the list.

Even though all UK V8's come with the performance pack they don't get the engine bay strut bar - hence why I purchased the Ford Racing bar which is the same part but in Black with a Ford Racing badge instead of a GT badge.

Will do, just need to get the calculator out and figure out what it owes me. Its the cat back sports with the black tips.

You guys work quick! The red rear lights and the GT lower fangs are provisionally sold.
