Buying a full size wheel just provides a direct replacement for your first dinged/kerbed rim.

Agree. With the space-saver, you've still got the hassle of having to get a new tyre and as you say, possible repair to the rim etc.

I just imagine that you'd get pretty sick of a massive wheel sticking up in the boot.

I've noticed that nobody seems to be bothering with winter tyres/wheels by the way.

I drove this morning on icy roads in the snow mode on standard tyres and I didn't slip or slide even slightly. My BMW would have been all over the road in the same conditions.

If you take their maintenance plan it gets extended to three years and covers all punctures repaired free.

Was told there was no service plan for the mustang yet??

Rear wheel puncture - spare on rear
Front wheel puncture - spare on rear, rear on front

275 up front while the other is 250...would that be ok?

I doubt it would be great and might not even be legal (wheel protruding from wheel well) but it would probably get us home.

With some sort of recovery service like AA, RAC, Ford etc it may be a bit of a moot point.

I would tend to agree but if you take it to another mechanic and they do something even slightly wrong, like wrong oil, why give ford the opportunity to say 'that wasn't done right so we can't stand over the warranty'

And you get 12 months every time you take it in for a service at a Ford dealer.

I thought about buying a full size for spare. But with a GT you'd have to decide whether you buy a front or rear.

That might be workable in middle/southern England but not sure of how many Mustang/American car specialists up in the north east of Scotland.

I was even contemplating using a local Ford dealer as my Fordstore is 80 miles away. I mean, it's a big engine but at the end of the day its just an engine. My main concern is that a provincial dealer would have had almost no hands-on experience of a Stang and may be more inclined to prove their service with extended test drives...

For just over £200 (plus vat+tyre) you could have a full size wheel...

As a solution for getting you going and not leaving you stranded is it confirmed that the 18" space saver spare wheel CAN be fitted both front and rear?

But you also need a jack, wrench etc. which will fit in the spare wheel bay in the boot. Maybe also keep the emergency tyre inflator kit in case it is enough to do the job.

It might be worth having a spare valve in case the nearest tyre fitter by some miracle has a suitable tyre but doesn't have the valve.

Pretty sure it's been made clear elsewhere, the space saver will not fit over the Brembo front brakes.
